Books that Build: Committed to all children reading by 2020.

Think of a child in your life and ask yourself: how well could they succeed without the ability to read? Tragically, too many children grow up in an environment that doesn't stress the importance of literacy. As a result, they enter school ill-prepared for the challenges of learning and have a difficult time realizing their dreams.

Book Rescue: One child's old book is another's fresh discovery, and so we rescue whole libraries of books from kids who have outgrown them. These unwanted books go straight to the kids who need them most, along with a personalized note from the child who gifted the book. These books are frequently the only ones a child has.

Mom-Ed: We work with mothers, the single largest influencer of at-risk children in the U.S., to help instill a love of reading in their children. In 2009 Books that Build has partnered with Single Moms on the Move to support and educate mothers around the country on the importance of literacy in their children's future. We also provide moms with free books to get them started.

Latest News: On April 26th, Books that Build's very own Team Run to Read will be running the MORE 1/2 Marathon in Central Park. Every step we take gets us closer to our goal of all children reading by 2020.
